Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 May 2026
This page explains what data Kestrel collects, how it's used, and your rights under UK GDPR. If anything here is unclear, email michael.uttley@kestreldigital.co and I'll explain in plain English.
Who I am
Kestrel is a sole trader operation run by Michael Uttley, based in West Yorkshire. I am the data controller for any personal data collected through this website. Contact: michael.uttley@kestreldigital.co.
What I collect
Contact form submissions. When you submit the contact form, I receive your name, business name, email address, optional phone number, the category you selected, and your message. This is processed by Netlify Forms on Kestrel's behalf and emailed to me.
Google Analytics 4. If you accept cookies, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregated visitor numbers, pages viewed, and traffic sources. IP addresses are anonymised. If you decline cookies, no analytics tracking happens at all - the banner gates the script before it loads.
Third parties
- Netlify - hosts the site and processes contact form submissions. Netlify privacy policy.
- Sanity - powers the blog content. Sanity does not collect data on you as a visitor. Sanity privacy policy.
- Google Analytics - only loaded if you accept cookies. Google privacy policy.
How long I keep your data
Contact form submissions are kept in my email for as long as the conversation is active and for up to 24 months afterwards, in case the project is revisited. After that, they are deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access - request a copy of the data I hold about you.
- Rectification - ask me to correct any errors.
- Erasure - ask me to delete your data.
- Object - object to how your data is processed.
- Withdraw consent - for analytics, clear the cookie banner choice and decline next time, or use your browser's privacy controls.
To exercise any of these, email michael.uttley@kestreldigital.co. I'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're not happy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If anything material changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page.
